Short Stop
Swakopmund was like stepping into a different country, with the German influenced architecture beautifully complimenting this little seaside town. Heading to the Desert Sky Backpackers, I pitched my tent and looking up, was delighted to see Peter heading my way. He'd gotten there earlier and we quickly caught up. He was heading out to supper later with a Belgium couple he'd met and invited me with. The owner of the backpackers had told me that Village Cafe was the best place for WiFi, so after giving the bike a good once-over I headed there. Peter was already seated and offered to treat me to a slice of their lemon meringue. It was huge and heavenly lemony, happily munching we spent the next hour behind our laptops.
Back at the backpackers, I met David in the kitchen channel surfing all 3 channels available on the TV. We chatted till it was time for supper and David agreed to come with and walk me back after our one drink, since I didn't really want supper. A young doctor from Germany, he'd been traveling for a couple of weeks already and been to Cape Town recently and was heading back there the next day. © 2012 Uncaged Africa - All rights reserved.
